Business Administrator Level 3

Programme Overview
The Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship develops a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours applicable across all sectors, including schools and MATs. The role covers School Administrator, Medical Administrator, Safeguarding Support Officer, and Business Operations Administrator. The role involves developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services. Business administrators develop key skills and behaviours to support their own progression towards management responsibilities. The flexibility of this standard allows apprentices to develop a wide range of skills directly applicable to their school context, from managing records and correspondence to leading small projects and mentoring others.
What Your Staff Will Learn
- Use multiple IT packages and systems to write correspondence, create proposals, record and analyse data
- Produce accurate records including emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals
- Exercise proactivity and good judgement to make effective decisions in the workplace
- Build and maintain positive relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders
- Demonstrate strong communication skills face-to-face, on the telephone, in writing and on digital platforms
- Complete tasks to a high standard and apply problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues
- Take responsibility for managing priorities, time and resources to successfully meet deadlines
- Use relevant project management principles to scope, plan, monitor and report on projects
Entry Requirements
- 1Currently working in an administrative role in a school, MAT, or similar organisation
- 2English and maths at Level 2 required prior to End Point Assessment
- 3Be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week in England
- 4Have the right to work in the UK
- 5Good organisational skills, attention to detail and a positive, professional attitude
Off-the-Job Training
Dedicated off-the-job training during normal working hours. Includes online learning, workshops, and practical administrative tasks applied directly in setting. Funded via the Growth and Skills Levy (maximum funding band: £5,000). Non-levy employers contribute 25%.
End Point Assessment
End Point Assessment includes a portfolio-based interview and knowledge test or project presentation. Grades: Fail / Pass / Merit / Distinction. Typical training is 12–18 months followed by EPA period.
