Community Health and Wellbeing Worker Level 3

Programme Overview
The Level 3 Community Health and Wellbeing Worker apprenticeship prepares individuals to work in partnership with individuals, networks, and the communities in which people live or work, to enable them to take greater control of their health and wellbeing. In a school context, this role is ideal for pastoral support staff, school wellbeing leads, safeguarding support officers, NHS community health champions, and community engagement coordinators. Apprentices will develop skills to support staff and pupil wellbeing, build community health programmes, and connect individuals with the services and support they need. The role covers mental health awareness, health promotion, community development, and working with NHS and public health services.
What Your Staff Will Learn
- Work in partnership with individuals, networks and communities to improve health and wellbeing outcomes
- Support individuals to take greater control of their own health, lifestyle and wellbeing decisions
- Identify and address social determinants of health including poverty, housing, isolation and education
- Develop and deliver health promotion activities and community wellbeing programmes
- Build relationships with local health services, NHS teams, community organisations and charities
- Support staff and pupil mental health and wellbeing through evidence-based approaches
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of support provided to individuals and groups
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all health and wellbeing activities
Entry Requirements
- 1Currently working in a pastoral, wellbeing, community engagement, or support role in a school or community setting
- 2English and maths at Level 2 required prior to End Point Assessment
- 3Be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week in England
- 4Have the right to work in the UK
- 5Empathetic, person-centred approach and commitment to improving community health outcomes
Off-the-Job Training
Dedicated off-the-job training during normal working hours. Includes online learning, workshops, community health training, and progress reviews. Funded via the Growth and Skills Levy (maximum funding band: £7,000). Non-levy employers contribute 25%.
End Point Assessment
End Point Assessment includes a case study scenario assessment and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. Grades: Fail / Pass / Merit / Distinction. Typical training is 12 months followed by EPA period.
