Programme Overview
The Level 3 Data Technician apprenticeship prepares individuals to source, format and present data securely in a relevant way for analysis using basic methods. Apprentices will communicate outcomes appropriate to the audience, analyse structured and unstructured data to support business outcomes, blend data from multiple sources as directed, and apply legal and ethical principles when manipulating data. In a school context, this role supports the collection, formatting and presentation of pupil data, attendance records, assessment data and financial information. Employees keep abreast of developments in digital technologies including Internet of Things and Generative AI.

Entry Requirements
- 1Currently working in a role involving data entry, reporting or administrative database management
- 2English and maths at Level 2 required prior to End Point Assessment
- 3Be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week in England
- 4Have the right to work in the UK
- 5Attention to detail, organised approach and an interest in working with data
Off-the-Job Training
Dedicated off-the-job training during normal working hours. Minimum 348 hours for compliance. Includes online learning, workshops, data tools training, and progress reviews. Funded via the Growth and Skills Levy (maximum funding band: £13,000). Non-levy employers contribute 25%.
End Point Assessment
End Point Assessment comprises two components: a Practical Assessment with Questions (observed task, 1.5 hours, at least 5 questions) and a Professional Discussion underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence (60 minutes, at least 8 questions). Grades: Fail / Pass / Merit / Distinction. Typical EPA period is 3 months following 24 months of training.
